Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress, who gained recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun as well as Beta Saajan. The actress began her career acting during the 80s. Her fame was boosted by the movie Tezaab with an established actor Anil Kooor. Her next role was in Dil where she was on screen with Aamir. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she started learning dancing at a young age. At the age of 15, she started acting but had a difficult time as a majority films she made were not successful. She eventually found success and was one of the leading actresses on the Indian film industry. In the aftermath of her wedding, she took a brief time off from her acting career before returning. Dixit played an important role in Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit has received 15 Filmfare Awards nominations, of which eight she won. Dixit was also awarded the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian award in India. She is also known for her charitable works.
