Thunberg took a decisive action in August of the year 2018. The school was closed and she erected an announcement that read "School Strike For Climate and calmly stood outside of the Swedish parliament. It was important to her to draw the attention of the politicians and convince them to act to stop global warming. Swedish media caught Thunbergs' strike, and the message spread. The following weeks many students across the globe took part in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movement. Students took Friday off in protest against global warming. Climate activists from around the world coordinated for the Global Strike for Climate. It was a huge success; over 1.6million people from over 100 countries participated.
