April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano lessons. April's very first song was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. She spent a lot of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. She started writing songs with her dad at home in NY and LA soon after. April also added additional themes to the tune "Take My Hand" to help her acquaintances who faced issues such as peer pressurization issues, or even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is a well-known lifestyle blogger and having partnerships with clean beauty brands Ilia she has gained her own following. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in herself. It's however not her entire story. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on Instagram, but she doesn't make it the focus of her story. What message does it convey? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our identities and physical bodies aren't what appear. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I do not want it to define my existence. I'm not looking to be only known as a disability expert. The issue doesn't affect my everyday activities. I conduct doing my job as normal and have come up with different ways of adapting. Since it's a part of who I am and something worthy of talking about. Lockhart has been a great example to other women with regards to acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she was uncomfortable wearing certain clothing styles which displayed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she wants. and she shares her pictures to social networks. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I do not think that you'll ever get in that place," she said. It's a journey, I'm not sure you'll ever get there. It's my opinion that having those around you who really understand you and can see the depths of your soul is vital as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you concerned about?
